Bringing British Wildlife to Life Through Illustration
As an artist and illustrator, my passion lies in capturing the beauty and diversity of British wildlife. From birds to plants, mammals to fish, I create bespoke illustrations that bring the natural world to life.

Why Wildlife Illustration?
I've always been a nature lover. Thereβs something deeply rewarding about spending time outdoorsβwhether hiking through some of Britainβs wildest upland landscapes, watching birds along the coastline, or sketching in my garden. I believe that art has the power to connect people with nature, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of the world around us.
Last year, I read The Green Sketching Handbook by Dr Ali Foxon - the book explains the many benefits of sketching outdoors: mindfulness, increased focus, reduce stress, improved physical and mental wellbeing and a deeper connection to the outdoors. So I've also added this creative habit to my life - I don't share any of my Green Sketches - they're just for me - which means I can let go of perfectionism and loosen up in my style and approach to capturing wildlife, which is definitely spilling over into my more considered work and commissions.
If youβd like to find out more about Green Sketching and get some support to help you start your own creative nature hobby, Iβm running a series of βIntroduction to Green Sketchingβ workshops throughout 2025.
Inspired by Northumberlandβs Natural Beauty
Iβm lucky to be based in Northumberland, Englandβs least-populated county in terms of people but home to an incredible variety of wildlife. This landscape provides endless inspiration, from the rugged coastline to the ancient forests and rolling moors. Observing animals and plants in their natural habitat allows me to create work that is both scientifically accurate and artistically compelling.
Otters slipping through the river, hares bounding across the fields, the cry of curlews over the shoreβthese are the moments that find their way into my artwork.
My Work
I create original illustrations, hand-drawn maps, and surface designs for businesses and private clients.
Depending on the subject and the brief, I work in either pen, watercolour, coloured pencil - or a mix of the three - and I tend to use muted, earthy tones - reflecting the hues of the region's landscapes, flora and fauna. I also love to integrate hand-lettered text into my work, whether that is incorporating lines from poems or song lyrics, creating a unique connection between imagery and story, or a simple, hand-written name label.
I love to work on projects that allow me to bring landscapes and wildlife to life in a practical and engaging way. Iβm excited to expand my portfolio and collaborate on new projects, whether they involve book illustrations, editorial artwork, or conservation-related educational materials.
Youβll also find my work on a range of eco-friendly prints and gifts, available online and through local stockists like Puddles on West Street here in Berwick.
