Let us put the kettle on. There’s making to be done.

Craft Café is a monthly evening of hands-on making, friendly chat, tea, and cake — held in the beautiful surroundings of Tweed Gallery, right in the heart of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Every last Tuesday of the month, we gather around the big wooden table for two hours of relaxed, guided creativity. No experience needed, no pressure, no judgement — just the quiet pleasure of making something with your hands, and the very good company of other women who fancied doing the same.

Berwick Craft Café

Each session has a simple, fun activity at its heart — the kind of crafting that’s satisfying without being stressful. Think playful, nostalgic, and genuinely enjoyable. The sort of thing you might have loved as a child in the 70s, 80s or 90s, but with a grown-up twist.

You’ll leave with something you’ve made yourself, a warm glow from the company, and possibly cake crumbs on your jumper. We consider this a success.

All materials are provided, and everything is guided — so all you need to bring is yourself.

About us

Craft Café is a collaboration between Tweed Gallery’s Amanda and Coostie Illustration’s Ali: dreamed up together and delivered with love (and cake). Ali is a Northumberland-based illustrator, designer and keen crafter, and a passionate advocate for using creativity to support wellbeing. She runs nature art workshops across the region and knows a thing or two about the magic of making.

Expect warmth, encouragement, and absolutely zero pressure to be ‘good at art’.

About Tweed Gallery

Craft Café takes place in the dedicated workshop space at Tweed Gallery, a beautiful creative hub in the centre of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Run by Amanda, the gallery is home to original art, handmade gifts by local makers, and a lovely little café— the perfect setting for an evening of making.

Book Your Place

Sessions are limited to 10 people, so booking is essential.

Craft Café: Paper Pumpkins | Tue 27th October
£15.00

Let us put the kettle on. There's making to be done.

This one's a bit more of a fold-along as we’ll be making origami pumpkins complete with a stem and a curl of vine. We'll go slowly, step by step, and there's tea and cake exactly when your fingers need the break.

You'll leave with: Your own hand-folded paper pumpkin (or two, if you're quick) — proper autumn windowsill decor.

All materials provided. Tea and cake included. Maximum 10 places — book early to avoid disappointment.

Craft Café: Advent Houses | Tue 24th November
£15.00

Let us put the kettle on. There's making to be done.

We're getting a head start on Christmas the papercraft way — folding and building our own paper ‘gingerbread’ houses, complete with ‘icing’, ready to line up on a mantelpiece or string into a little village. Simple to fold, satisfying to build and decorate, no experience needed.

You'll leave with: A small collection of your own paper houses — the start of an Advent village you can add to every year or a lovely handmade Christmas decoration.

All materials provided. Tea and cake included. Maximum 10 places — book early to avoid disappointment.

Craft Café: Hello Autumn | Tue 29th September
£15.00

September has that back-to-school feeling whether you're heading anywhere or not — new term, new leaf, and all that. So this month at Craft Cafe, we're picking up dip pens and turning a bit of autumn wonkiness into something you'll actually want to pin up.

No experience needed. No steady hand required. Just ink, cake, and the kind of concentration that makes two hours disappear.

What you'll do: You'll learn the basics of dip pen calligraphy — how to load ink without making a mess of it, the light-up-heavy-down rhythm that makes the letters work, and enough practice to feel steady before you commit pen to good paper. Then you'll write your own autumn phrase to take home, finished and framed-ready.

You'll leave with: A hand-lettered piece, properly your own, blots and all — because the blots are half the charm.

All materials provided. Tea and cake included. Maximum 10 places — book early to avoid disappointment.
