5 Reasons to try one of my Green Sketching workshops
Have you ever wanted to be more creative but felt unsure of where to start? Maybe you haven’t drawn since school, or you worry that your sketches won’t look “good enough.”
Or perhaps you’re concerned by how much time you spend watching a screen, or scrolling on a device? You know it isn’t good for you, but you need a new habit to replace the old one.
Or maybe, you’d just like to spend more time outdoors, enjoying the nature on your doorstep? Studies have shown that being in green spaces (and blue ones) has actual physiological benefits - from slowing our heartbeats, to quieting our minds.
If any of that sounds familiar, Green Sketching might be just what you need!
Green Sketching is a simple, pressure-free way to slow down, connect with nature, and rediscover your creativity. You don’t need to have any artistic skills, or be a nature buff able to recite the names of birds and plants. Here’s why I think you should give one of my workshops a try:
No Experience Needed
Forget the idea of making perfect art—Green Sketching is all about **enjoying the process**. You don’t need to know any fancy techniques or have expensive supplies. In fact - come on one of my workshops and I’ll provide you with a basic sketching set of sketchbook, pencil and some colours. Then you are all set to start capturing the beauty around you.
2. A New Way to See Nature
Have you ever really looked closely at the veins of a leaf, the texture of tree bark, or the way light plays on water? Green Sketching helps you to slow down and notice the small details that often go unnoticed. It’s not about creating a perfect picture—it’s about observing and appreciating the world around you.
3. Great for Relaxation & Mindfulness
Sketching in nature is a wonderful way to de-stress because it encourages you to be present and focused on your surroundings. By concentrating on a view or an object, we can reach a ‘flow state’ where all the noise in our heads goes quiet. Many people find that Green Sketching helps reduce anxiety, improve mood, and boost overall well-being.
4. A Screen-Free Escape
In a world where we’re constantly glued to screens, Green Sketching offers a refreshing digital detox. It’s a chance to step away from notifications and immerse yourself in nature. Drawing what we see - rather than whipping out our phone to take a quick snap - means that we’re much more likely to remember the moment.
5. Fun, Creative and Completely Yours!
There are no rules in Green Sketching and no ‘sketchbook police’! You can’t do it ‘wrong’ so just relax, explore, and enjoy the process. Your sketchbook is yours alone, free from judgment or expectations and you never have to show it to anyone if you don’t want to. Whether it is full or messy scribbles or consciously curated and annotated studies - this is one thing that doesn’t have to feed the social media algorithm!
