For 2023/24, I’ll be donating 25% of the profit from sales of any item in my Coastal Birds collection to the National Trust Northumberland Coast Ranger Team for their work on the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne looking after these birds and their special habitats.

Inspiration and Techniques

My illustrated map art print of the North Northumberland coast is a captivating blend of illustration and education. With its realistic watercolour representations of coastal birds and informative content, it's a perfect addition to any nature lover's collection. Printed on eco-friendly paper, it offers a unique and sustainable way to appreciate the beauty of the Northumberland coast from the comfort of your home.

This print features seven birds found locally, including a Cormorant, Brent Geese, Arctic Terns, a Purple sandpiper, an Eider duck, an Oystercatcher and Puffins. Each illustration was hand-painted in watercolour with pen detailing and then bird name labels were handwritten in a loose, calligraphic style.

The map base was drawn digitally and depicts the North Northumberland coastline stretching from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Seahouses. The map is coloured in muted, earthy tones and includes sea depths in different shades of blue. The map’s cartouche is hand-drawn and features two of the main habitats for these coastal birds – the Farne Islands and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

At the bottom of the map, I have included a description of the birds and their habitats in the North Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Values

Sustainability is important to me and I source all of my art prints from an ethical and environmentally-responsible, UK-based company. This one has been printed on to a premium, heavy-weight paper made from sustainably-sourced eucalyptus pulp, using environmentally-friendly ink.

I don’t use any plastic in my packaging and there’s always a little extra something in your order as a thank you for supporting my small business.

A percentage of my profits goes to support a number of local charities that look after our built and natural environment here in North Northumberland.

Please note, all prints are provided un-framed.

A4-sized art prints are wrapped in tissue paper and then packaged in a sturdy reinforced envelope. A3-sized prints are rolled in a compostable bag and packed in a triangular cardboard mailing tube. All papers, packaging and stickers are recyclable and/or made from recycled materials.
