Hedgehog amongst the leaves | Mixed Media Coloured Pencil and Ink | 253mm x 202mm | Original Signed & Mounted Artwork
'Hedgehog amongst the leaves' Original Coloured Pencil Drawing with ink detailing
Artwork size: 6.25"x8.75" / 16 × 22cm
Artwork + mount size: 8×10" / 20.2×25.3cm
Original artwork of a Hedgehog snuffling amidst a pile of fallen leaves. The body of the hedgehog was drawn in coloured pencil, with the leaf detailing added in grey ink. Smooth hot pressed paper. Ivory mount to fit an 8×10” frame
I use Derwent Procolour pencils, a wax-based coloured pencil made in the UK with very good lightfastness (meaning that the colours won't fade under museum conditions). Procolour pencils contain no animal derived materials or ingredients.
This artwork was created on Bockingford Watercolour Paper, which is made in England on a traditional cylinder mould machine at St Cuthbert's Mill in Somerset.
This illustration was chosen by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society as one of the artworks to include in their 2026 calendar, which is sold to raise funds to help look after our native hedgehogs here in the UK. If you purchase the original, I’ll donate 20% of the fee to BHPS to help support their work.
