The Northumberland coast — with its cliffs, beaches and tidal islands — supports a huge variety of seabirds, and watching them is a daily pleasure that's found its way into much of my work, including this mug. It features watercolour illustrations of Arctic Tern, Brent Geese, Purple Sandpiper and Puffin, each with a hand-written name label, alongside a hand-drawn title illustration of the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne.

Inspiration and Values

This mug features four birds found on the North Northumberland coast: Brent Geese, Arctic Terns, a Purple sandpiper and Puffins. Each illustration was hand-painted in watercolour with pen detailing and then name labels were handwritten in a loose, calligraphic style. The mug is finished with a hand-drawn title, featuring line drawn illustrations of two of the birds’ habitats on the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne.

Sustainability is important to me and I source all of my mugs from an ethical and environmentally-responsible, UK-based company. I don’t use any plastic in my packaging and there’s always a little extra something in your order as a thank you for supporting my small business.

A percentage of my profits goes to support a number of local charities that look after our built and natural environment here in North Northumberland.

Practical Information

Mugs are 85mm high and have a diameter of 75mm. Plain white box, which I wrap in tissue paper and place this in a 100% recycled plastic mailing bag, which features an extra adhesive strip so that you can use it for sending something, too! All papers, packaging and stickers are recyclable and/or made from recycled materials.
