Living on the Northumberland coast means having a front-row seat to some remarkable birdlife — from familiar herring gulls to the migratory Arctic Tern, diving gannets, and the ever-popular puffin. This print celebrates seven species that can be seen along this coastline: Arctic Tern, Brent Geese, Cormorant, Eider Duck, Oystercatcher, Purple Sandpiper, and Puffin.

Each bird is illustrated in detailed watercolour and pen, with a hand-written name label — a single A4 print that works as a piece of art in its own right, or as a companion to my illustrated map print.

Printed onto 350gsm eucalyptus paper using eco-friendly toners, with fully recyclable and recycled packaging. Free P&P.

Inspiration and Techniques

The North Northumberland Coast is a haven for a wide variety of coastal birds, many of which travel hundreds of miles to breed and nest along the coast line, or on one of the many islands scattered along this part of the country. This print features seven birds found locally, including a Cormorant, Brent Geese, Arctic Terns, a Purple sandpiper, an Eider duck, an Oystercatcher and Puffins. Each illustration was hand-painted in watercolour with pen detailing and then bird name labels were handwritten in a loose, calligraphic style.

Sustainability is important to me and I source all of my art prints from an ethical and environmentally-responsible, UK-based company. This one has been printed on to a premium, heavy-weight paper made from sustainably-sourced eucalyptus pulp, using environmentally-friendly ink.

I don’t use any plastic in my packaging and there’s always a little extra something in your order as a thank you for supporting my small business.

A percentage of my profits goes to support a number of local charities that look after our built and natural environment here in North Northumberland.

Practical Info

A4-sized art prints are wrapped in tissue paper and then packaged in a sturdy reinforced envelope. All papers, packaging and stickers are recyclable and/or made from recycled materials.
